Steps at a glance
1. Fold into a triangle
White side up as a diamond. Fold the bottom corner up to the top corner.
2. Fold the side corners up
Fold the left and right corners up to the top corner to make a diamond.
3. Make the wings
Fold the top points of both flaps down at a slant. Each crease runs from a side corner to a point a little below the center, so the tips stick out past the bottom.
4. Fold the top layer down
Fold only the front layer of the top triangle down, so its tip lands a little below where the wings meet.
5. Fold the next layer down
Fold the remaining layer down too, a little higher than the first one, so a white V-shaped band shows.
6. Fold the sides behind
Fold both sides behind. Each crease starts on the top edge and slants outward toward the bottom. Your cicada is done!
