Start folding

Steps at a glance

  1. 1. Fold in half and unfold

White side up. Fold in half top to bottom and unfold.

  2. 2. Fold in half

Fold the left half over the right. The double layer makes a strong frog.

  3. 3. Crease the bottom square

Crease the vertical center line, then crease both diagonals of the bottom square.

  4. 4. Turn over; crease across

Turn over, fold the bottom edge up to the middle crease and unfold. Turn back over.

  5. 5. Collapse into a waterbomb base

Push the middles of the bottom square’s sides inward while bringing the bottom edge up, forming a triangle.

  6. 6. Make the front legs

Fold the corners of the two front flaps of the triangle down at an angle to make the front legs.

  7. 7. Turn it upside down

Rotate the paper so the triangle is at the top.

  8. 8. Fold the body up

Fold the bottom edge up to the bottom of the triangle.

  9. 9. Fold the sides to the center

Lift the front legs out of the way, fold the body sides (with the back corners of the triangle) to the center line, then lay the legs back down.

  10. 10. Crease the bottom flap

Fold the bottom edge up to where the front legs start, crease its top corners down to its bottom edge and unfold, then unfold the flap.

  11. 11. Lift the bottom and pull the corners out

Lift the bottom edge again while pulling the two inside corners out to the sides, then flatten — the same move as in the pinwheel.

  12. 12. Fold the two points down

Fold the two side points down along the creases you made.

  13. 13. Make the back legs

Fold the inner edges of the two flaps outward at an angle to make the back legs.

  14. 14. Make the spring (pleat)

Fold the lower half up along the line between the legs, then fold that flap back down in half to make a zigzag spring.

  15. 15. Turn over — done

Turn over and your frog is ready! Press the back edge with a finger and slide off to make it jump.
